Discontinued and Disappointed.

Hi Sukas, Happy February! Any big plans for Valentine's Day? My apologies for the posting hiatus--change is in the air, and now that the dust has settled a bit, I'm back to my old self.

As a huge fan of Ojon, I was saddened to hear that my very favorite part of the line--Tawaka--has been discontinued.

The Ancient Tribal Rejuvenating Cream is a favorite around this house--I even caught el hub packing a tube to take with him on a trip last weekend. Now I realize what the scent has been that lingers on him! It's one of the most deeply hydrating moisturizers--smelling of cocoa and mild spices. It's perfect for any dry spots, but can be used as an all over moisturizer--especially for those with dry skin types. It is said that the main ingredient was becoming "too rare", thus they stopped producing the line. You can still find remainders on sites like eBay (the "ball" is another great product to keep an eye out for), but of course sellers are taking advantage of the near extinct availability, and charging likewise.

Are there any long lost products that you only wish would be brought back?

For the past few days, Orly's Country Club Khaki has been on the nails, and I'm really pleased with the formula. Typically, these kinds of nude shades are either too light for my coloring, or else not opaque enough. I'm not one to wait around for three coats of color, so when one coat of polish was enough, I realized that I had hit the nude-brown jackpot! In a world of OPI and China Glaze, I feel as though Orly gets the cold shoulder. I have a few more Orly polishes that came with this order--and if they all run true to formula, I may have re-discovered an old favorite in terms of polish lines.

Are you a fan of Orly? Are there any shades that I need to get my hands on?

In updates, a bit of progress has been made on Project 10 Pan. There have been four items that have been fully defeated on the list:

*Lancome Hypnose Mascara: love the moisturizing formula
*Lancome Cils Booster Mascara Base: nice, but have found a replacement
for less than half the price
*MAC Queen Bee Lipglass: have a backup in tow, but of course this is limited edition
*LUSH Spice Curls soap (not shown): a spicy holiday scent--best left with the holidays

Four out of ten isn't horrible. There are a few items that are well on their way--and to be honest, I'm finding enjoyment in using up the ten items I've set aside. LUSH items have become a bit of a habitual purchase, so they needed to be added to the list as a means of self-control :)

How is your Project going? What have I missed? Fill me in, with your comments!

Ahh, I should have included Lush in my p5p! It's not going very well, the main reason being that I'm staying home right now and trying to wear zero make-up. Not a very good timing... I'm somewhere in between 2 to 3 products off the list. Anyhow, I'm so glad to see you back on blogland! xxx

@rocaille: add it in now! i wasn't going to at first, and then noticed that i was interested in picking up more bath items. It makes it hard to finish, when you're on a no-makeup wearing spree...but it's do-able!

Can not handle it when things I <3 get discontinued.. it actually hurts! lol Physical pain!! :P

Its a pity that cream sounds like my type of thing. There are so many products I could name that I loved and vanished. This is why i hate limited edition things!! miss Nakey honey salve! I have one left but I dont wanna open it!!! xx

That moisturizer sounds really good, especially if the products were becoming to rare....Too bad they are discontinuing it! I don't think that I would ever be able to go on project 10 pan. I have been trying to finish this one lipgloss, and it just doesn't end!

Oh I have already had the experience with products that I loved that were discontinued, especially when it comes to nail polishes. By the way, I just loved the color of your nails, soooo natural and chic :)))))

Ahh I never quite got the hang of that Tawaka cream, I actually forgot I had it, realised I had it for ages and binned it as I thought it may have gone off! :(

Your nails look beautiful, that's a very sophisticated yet chic colour. Also, well done on PXP, I had a makeup clearout today, I feel refreshed :) glad to see you posting again! X

I think there is a half-full tube of tawaka in the nightstand next to my bed @ mom's house. Help yourself...it is all yours! xoxo

@tali: i still have two tins of the salve left..i don't want to use it either. the key is to use it before it goes off though..sometimes i try to preserve things so much that i end up not being able to ever use them before they go bad! xx

@hope: lipglosses take the longest! And just when you think they're done, you can throw them in some hot water and "melt down" the sides :)

@cherries in syrup: thanks hun! it's really easy to wear with just about anything--it doesn't conflict with other colors!

@muhsine: it's good to be back! oh no, you threw away the precious creme?! i saw the photos of your stash that you wanted to get rid of..incredible! you're going to have some happy friends/family :)

@emily: oooh thank you! I know "he" will be extra excited--he still doesn't get why they'd discontinue it "just because it's rare"..umm..lol

Ok, how do you always get your nails to look as if they were professionally done? I file, buff, and do a clear coat before and after, and my nails could never look half as good and I always get small traces of polish on the sides. :-) Please fill us in.

Thx.

@anonymous: thank you so much! that's a big compliment ;) i did a little tutorial yesterday, so hopefully i'll be able to get it up today. i think much of it has to do with the products i use..especially for a top coat :)

Ah, don't you just hate it when they discontinue sth you love, or when you love sth that's LE?
Same thing has happened to me with a TBS perfume, "Tobacco Flower"... :(
I 'm never getting sucked into a LE perfume again...!

Country Club Khaki looks perfect on you, gorgeous shade of brownish nude!

@tina_mbc: i remember that scent! i went in the other day to pick up some shampoo, because they brought back all of the classics--banana, ice blue, etc. They said that the length of time that they keep the old products out, will depend on demand. I wish other companies *ahem, MAC* would take note and do the same! xx

Lol, yes, they 'd given me the "we have the old scents back and depending on votes/demand etc, some of them will be permanent", I was like: "yeah, whatever, not falling for that one ever again", haha! :)
MAC are being silly, instead of making some items permanent, they repromote them 2 or 3 times a year... lol!

My favorite product from Orly is most definitely their Bonder Basecoat (it looks like cooking oil in color) lol

It's just so good! Have you used it?
