A Few Good Tools

There are a couple of beauty tools that I've been using over the past few months, that have completely replaced their former competitors.

The first, is this squirmy little springy type-thing which is used for hair removal, called the My Spring It. Before bending, it looks like one long piece of junk.

All you need to do is bend it like so:

use both hands to twist towards each other, and run upwards against any hair that you would like to remove. It's thorough, quick, and for my sensitive skin, causes little to no redness or irritation. This has become a bit of a "while watching television" project, and is so much less painful than threading used to be for any facial hair. And no, I don't use it on my brows. But yes, the women in my family have converted.

The second tool topping the charts, is the Sephora Professionnel Platinum Airbrush #55 foundation brush. It's incredibly soft, packed fairly dense (yet not over the top), and actually creates the airbrush appeal it promises. So many brushes claim to do this, and in my experience they either:

a. Pack on too much product (cake-face)
b. Absorb too much product (wasteful)
or
c. Create streaky and obvious lines

If you prefer an effect that is natural and takes little time to create, then this is the brush for you. Due to the size that the hairs cover alone, it quickly covers the face in a minimal amount of time. Time is something I've been short on lately, so it's been the first brush I reach for in the morning.

What are some of your new favorite tools? When you find a standby tool, do you ever keep one eye open for the next best thing?

I was tagged by sweet Su-Pah over at Treasure Trove of Makeup. The point is to share seven facts about yourself that are otherwise unknown to your readers. Here they are:

1. I've never owned a Barbie (have I told you this?)

2. Pro-biotics are a current obsession. I've been enjoying Good Belly (black currant), and Nancy's (peach)

3. I never take medicine. You'd have to put an IV in me. Unless it's natural (as in, my mom prepared it and says "hey this will help you..your grandma used to cure this or that with it...)

4. I live and breathe Target. If you like something I'm wearing, check Target--your chances of finding it there are high.

5. I will never invite you to sit on my bed. And I definitely won't make you feel comfortable if you're sitting on the comforter.

6. Touching my hair was a big no-no until this last year or so. Friends still tell me that my aversion to someone's hand getting near my head amuses them.

7. Speaking of hair, I had my first haircut at age 15--and that's early for girls in my family. My dad nearly tore what was left of it, off--he was so upset. Mind you, it was a trim of 3 inches.

I now tag anyone who will promise that they'll complete these questions--link me, because I love reading your answers!

I have to get my hands on that brush!!! Funnily enough, we get completely different brushes in Sephoras in Poland - not bad, but I haven't seen this beauty anywhere.

And I loved your random facts! I also don't like people sitting on my bed, and I'm not a very touchy-feely person overall (exceptions are made for the family). xxx

I have already done mine, and the answers to 2 questions are pretty alike (except that the Barbie one can be considered a freak in my case........lol.......)XOXO

@resham: it isn't any more painful than threading, but for me doesn't have me reacting as badly. It's just the lip area that is sooo sensitive!

@muhsine: I think you might light it. There are several on ebay!

@rocaille: different brushes? Do you prefer them to the ones in the states/canada? My bed needs a "don't sit" sign. I've been that way since I was a child!

@cherries in syrup: going to have a look! I like your new icon picture :)

I have that hair remover too! I order it online for about $16 =/
Then I found it at H-mart (Korean Grocery store) for $10!

Ah, two products I really want to try... But guess what, the no 55 brush is nowhere to be found in any Sephora I go.. oh, well, guess it sells like crazy!!!

So, no Barbies huh? Cindy's maybe? Lol! Woman, what did you play with? :D

And the hair thing is classic, I rarely want ppl touching my hair too, even the bf sometimes...I 'm weiiird!

I want to try that torture thing!! I have serious m'tash issues!! I hate the pain of threading (and the regrowth is bumpy) and plucking takes forever!!!
Love reading the list on you!! :) I have an ear thing.. hair is bad but my ears are worse. I someone wants to touch my earings i freak!! I remember hitting an ex for trying to nibble my ears although with this one im fine! lol!

Also please explain the comforter bed thing. Is it because or hygene of outside clothes on the bedding or because it wrinkles the perfectly made bed? lol because i see a few options!!! hehe xoxo

@dsk steph: ooh, good to know it's at H-Mart! I picked mine up from Uwajimaya, and they're just a bit more expensive there. Thanks!

@tina_mbc: i played with stuffed bears, or my sister. hehehe...no, i didn't have cindy's either--but i had a cousin who had them, and i think it was too late in the game to convert me!

@hope: it is very effective. it really catches the hair if you keep it close to the skin.

@tali: it's strange, because threading doesn't bother me a bit on my brows...although, on my lip it really does.

the comforter thing--it's the outside clothes (yuck, don't even like that on the couch..weird, eh?), and also the wrinkling and compressing of the feathers. i don't know...this list really makes me look crazy!!

I have the spring... I use it on my side burns... If I don't use it... my sideburns resemble Elvis', LOL!

@carey ann: haha, you're so funny..but i can totally relate :)

Wow, the spring looks so painful, reminds me of my dad's exercise eqpiment piece when we were little, was a spring he used to stretch and we'd always injure ourselves with it when playing around with it.Haha!
I an understand how it's effective but still scary. :p

Your answers were amusing... ditto on barbie! :D

@su-pah: umm, this is weird, but it reminds me of some exercise equipment we had in the 80's too. it ALWAYS pinched us! had i been smart, i may have been able to invent this first! hahaha :)

1)I'm not neat at all. I've tried to fight that, but i'm a bit of a slob.

2)If you sit on my bed and you have your outside clothes on, I will throw you out. lol

3) If anyone tries to wake me up in the middle of the might, i am known to scream bloody murder. (I watch way too many crime shows)

4) Speaking of crime shows, I can watch the investigative channel the whole day.

5)i've never been trick or treating. my mom thought it was the devil's holiday.

6) I used to have an addiction to vitamins and took 26 per day

7) When I was young, kids would make fun of me and call me olive oil because i was so slim, now I love my size.

fantastic said...

@beautylogicblog: totally with you on the bed sitting, and was named olive oil too :( can't they think of any other character other than her?! how many vitamins do you take now?

OMG....got my spring it in the mail today! I ordered it 2 days ago and it came already! I rapidly opened the package and used it....wow....I didn't really know what to expect! It definitely did hurt...but I'm beginning to get used to it now. Thanks for the heads up my dear! Loving it already ;)
