As promised, I am back with a couple more items that I enjoyed from my Korean Cosmetics Experience: Numero Uno. Before going further, I must admit that I will be returning time and again to my little cosmetics shop for new arrivals. I'm shocked with joy, at the pigmentation that these products offer, and am tempted to do some comparisons to the likes of the MAC mineralized products. This price point is friendlier, and the packaging is way cuter--si?
Por ejemplo, this Cathy Cat mineral duo shadow--what color payoff! And the little eyeshadow sponge that accompanies it? Sure, that thing will never be used, but it's still cutesy--and swings off of the little circle nob on the pan by a string.
My favorite find was the Iope Air Cushion Sunblock. Essentially it's a spongy foundation, with very light coverage. It beholds the powers of SPF 40 (this I love), and that's not all--it claims to block heat, and add a cooling function to the skin. Oh, and it's sweat proof. It reminds me a bit in appearance, of a similar Shu Uemura product, but this one actually feels like water being applied to the skin. Each box comes with a refill of the product, so you get twice the amount of product for your money (which is about $35). I really like.
Is SPF something that you take into account when purchasing a foundation/face product?

I always consider spf.. BUT i do find that sometimes it can leave a foundation product a bit sheered out and thin. Its a bonus.. at the same time my priority is looking good (oh the vanity! :P) so i go for product quality first then SPF factor!
Love the pics.. ive never really purchased from that far abroad before. Still on the fence about BB creams... hmmmmm xx
@tali: as much as I enjoy the color that the sun turns me, I know spf needs to be my best friend. Dark skin+wrinkles would be a shame. But...when going out, or when I know my photo will be taken, I tend to stay away from spf because of the reflection on film...
The BB creams....such a tricky subject I know. I wish I could read korean so I could properly compare what they promise to do! Xx
I try to keep spf in mind when looking for new foundations - but sometimes I settle for a good spf moisterizer
It's always nice one that is dual purpose - I like ur new find is so light - my kind of foundation :)
The foundation sounds like a dream!
About BB creams, the MAs were seriously clamoring around me today asking what foundation I was wearing, I was wearing a BB cream. They come in many variations, I think the main thing is whether it matches the skin tone. Some of them do look scarily pale at first but they do eventually sheer out and become translucent (say about an hour).
Btw, the eyeshadow and it's brush, evidently v. pigmented, so so cute too!!
@ladyb: I love something light! I don't want coverage, or at least don't want to feel "covered"!
@su-pah: okay I need to know exactly which bb cream you purchased!! Serious!
hey honey
sorry to bombard you with questions but it's such a relief to find someone with my skin tone that doesn't "over-do it" when it comes to makeup.
I'm off to Fiji in about a month and a half and I'm looking for a tinted moisturiser that has enough coverage to hide my imperfections (there are a lot at the moment), without feeling like my face might melt and will also let me get a slight tan?
xxx
@sophia schaaf: you're not bombarding me...don't worry! Ooh fiji..it's so humid there, you'll definitely need something light! Whereabouts in fiji are you going to be visiting (just curious)?
As far as tinted moisturizers are concerned, I would really recommend the Korres Watermelon version. it has an spf in it, & the shades are perfect for our skin tone. Their products are quite natural, so you won't need to worry about irritation either.
One product I'm planning on picking up is the BB cream, which is meant for what you are talking about--imperfections! As soon as I find the right one for my skintone, I'll be sure to share!
Have a lovely trip! xx
Yes, spf is always a factor when I 'm thinking of new makeup...
however I would prefer lower spf - as you said,I 'm just too scared that it will appear really white on pics, and since I 'm already a "pale face", I 'd end up looking like a ghost...! :)))
xoxo
I've been reading your lovely blog regularly for a while but this is my first comment!
I really like your approach to skincare and makeup and appreciate your writing style a lot: really clean, elegant and well crafted reviews :)
SPF is kind of my obsession at the moment. And I'm on the fence about the whole mineral vs. chemical SPF debate. At the beginning of the summer I really wanted the perfect tinted moisturizer with SPF 20 (or higher if possible), but I didn't find anything I really liked. I tried the Korres watermelon one, but I have combination/dry skin and had to apply it over another hydrating cream and even then found it dry... :( I gather from others (like the gorgeous Tali) that it's really good for people with oily skin, though.
Seeing as I hardly ever wear foundation anyway I was willing to get over my tinted moisturizer fixation and just find a good hydrating cream with SPF. The more I thought about the downsides of putting extra chemicals on my skin for sun protection the more I strayed from this idea, however. At the end of the summer I found what seems to be a viable option for next summer: a very light mineral product one sprays over facecream (and makeup/face powder)... with SPF 25! Perfect for North-Western European climate!
Hmm, too bad I only got there just as autumn is setting in. Now I need a good hydrating serum and protecting cream for winter, so I guess by next spring I'll have found it :)
Bisous from Berlin,
Nadine
Oops, sorry about the monstrous post... And btw, I find Korean, Japanese, Tawainese etc. cosmetics quite alluring, too. You probably know this blogger/youtuber: xfuzkittie -- she does lots of reviews and has a huge collection of Asian products.
@nadine: thank you SO much for your sweet note :) i really appreciate the fact that you take the time to read the blog!
which spray did you find, and who is it by?
one thing that i started using over the Spring, is Bobbi Brown's SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing Balm. I did a review on it here. It's extremely moisturizing, but I would recommend grabbing a sample from your MA so that you can decide if it is for you. It's very hydrating (which is why I love it), and I don't need to add additional moisture like I do with most brands :)
The spray product is called "On Top" and is by the German company Dr. Grandel.
I haven't really tested this product long enough to be able to say whether I'd recommend it, but I find it quite a clever idea and am hoping that I'll still like it come next spring/summer.
Thanks very much for the BB tinted moisturizer suggestion.. that's one of the products I was contemplating getting this summer, but somehow didn't get around to trying out. But now you've releashed the lemming!
@nadine: i'll have to keep my eye out for that spray. let me know if the BB balm works for you!
