If there is one person's makeup that I've been channeling in a big way lately, it would be good 'ol Kimmy K. Of course it's not a look that travels into the office, or dines with you at breakfast, but when you want glamour and oomph, you've hit the last stop. What I'm loving about her is that she isn't perfect, and she definitely has her share of skin issues and cellulite (helloooo, did you watch this past Sunday?). But that doesn't stop her--she does her best (and she does a damn good job if I say so myself), of always putting her best face forward. In a world of sweats and crocs, we can sure look up to her for her fashion and makeup :)
How then do you go about it? Well of course I took the time to investigate some of her favorite products (and quickly stocked up soon thereafter!). Start off by prepping your face with your regular foundation or powder. She pulls off a smoky eye, and a nude lip like nobody's business. Her favorite gloss is Nars' Turkish Delight (which I have all my girls going goo goo after--it works on every skin tone), paired up with a little bit of Stripdown lip liner from MAC. I like to add a little lip balm first, just to make sure everything glides smoothly. Next up: eyes. It's not too difficult to accomplish a smoky eye--if you need help, refer to this tutorial. Just keep in mind, that you can use greys, blues--whatever suits your skin tone and your eye color, and you don't need to go quite this dramatic to achieve her regular look. Make sure that you do in fact first coat the lid with a little foundation, concealer, or even a MAC paint in a color similar to that of your skin (I use Bamboom), because it will help to prevent smudging with the next big hitter--the liner. Kim's fave is Stila's Kajal Liner in Onyx. I sure love me a good find, and that's exactly what I decided it was the moment I ran it on the back of my hand. It is hands-down, the smoothest piece of work I have ever picked up. Super pigmented, and you don't feel at all as though you're scraping your lids each time you use it. So with this bad boy, line the top and bottom of your lids (or whatever you feel your peepers can handle), slap on some false lashes (or else go nuts with the DiorShow) , and move onto your cheeks. Here, you're going to want to add a little bit of soft pink--something along the same lines of your lips. I like Nars' Blush/Bronzer Duo in Orgasm/Laguna. Voila, the look is complete and all you need now is a date for dinner!
