I drink my Noni every day. Scratch that. Nonu. Why not call it what it is--and for me, the Tongan way is the right way (ooh, feel the heat!). It's nothing new, it's just that these new companies have the marketing on the name. Native to the Pacific, the juice from the nonu fruit (of which we get ours from Tahiti--ah well, I can't count on my nana to make it for me anymore, so I don't complain), is so super-antioxidizing, and gives you the kick of energy you need each day, but refuse to rely on coffee and Red Bull for. That's not the only thing--it will help you maintain a superior immune system to that of your friends, and keep your cholesterol in check. We've always known this, haven't we? Of course the rest of the world got in on our secret after some palangis coined it. I've grown up drinking the stuff, and will take it with me to the grave. Mama went and signed up for one of those MLM companies just so she could get a discount on the bottles. Now, that same company is working at cornering the market on skin care products that include nonu as one of the main ingredients!
So check this out--as long as my mom can think of, we've been using Nonu to cure everything from stomach aches, to skin irritations, to burns. OF COURSE it makes sense to go and start a skin care line--it eliminates the mess of digging into the reserve that's stored on the kitchen window sill. One of my favorites so far? The TePoema Creamy Moisturizer. With this nasty weather, I'm in constant need of a pocket moisture boost, and the slim packaging makes it easy to slip in my purse. If that's not enough, it also uses the moisturizing properties of tamanu and kukui nut oil to add to the yumminess of smell and effectiveness. My sister loves the Cleansing Oil, and I'm on the verge of placing an order for a very lucky gift-recipient of some Mango & Bougainvillea Body Wash. Drink up, suds up, stock up!
