All Tatted For the Big Screen

Lately I've been spending a lot of time reading up and researching Polynesian tattoos. It's not because I'm planning to get one myself, but because of another very special project which I should reveal with time. Anyhow, not only have I been trying to do my own research, but now I've been informed that the new flick The Tattooist is coming to theatres here in the states. This will be a must-see. Not only does it include Robbie Magasiva, and David Fane (both from Sione's Wedding), but Mia Blake stars as the main female role, Sina. It should be debuting on the American Film Market this week, which means in should be in select theatres soon. This should give us all some insight as to some of the popular themes that surround the Pacific tatau--but what do you think? Who should be allowed to wear this stamp of identity, and what does it mean in terms of beauty?

First Time For Everything!

I've blogged about pageants before, but this one is near and dear to my heart. Could I be any more excited about the winner of Miss South Pacific this year? I don't think so. Tonga has taken home the crown, and it could go to no one better. Ms. Tessi Leila Toluta'u is the new Miss South Pacific, and has represented Tonga oh-so-well. What a great day it is, to have the crowning glory go to a hafekasi ta'ahine Tonga! She not only won the whole competition, but she also took home the prize for four out of the seven special categories. Never before has a Miss Heilala won the Miss SP, on exception of in 1995, when Ma'ata Mo'ungaloa took over for a winner who could not fulfill her duties. This year marks the year when we begin to TAKE OVER! Go on suka mamas, show 'em what you're made of!

Wishing You Plenty Opportunities to Get it Right..

I was all over Sephora's beauty box last year right around this time. For $48, I was given the option of almost 100 different shades of eyeshadows, lip stains, and blush. It was at the point that I thought few things would top it--but lo and behold, the beauty store that always outdoes, has done it again. This time it's from Tarte, and it's the We Wish You Wealth Palette ($52). It's exclusive to Sephora, and is in one word: Amazing. Not only does it come in a wayyy cuter quilted metallic purple folding case (it has magnets that keep it together when closed), but it is actually compact enough to fit into your purse (of course not a clutch or anything..but you catch my drift). It comes with everything right down to the brushes. Regardless of how much it bugs when I see girls doing their makeup in the car, this would be the perfect for just that occassion. Don't say I didn't tell you so when you show up to that holiday party and realize you forgot blush.

So Scentual...

Island ladies, have I got a new one for you! Who would've thought that Estee Lauder would hit so close to home with something so spot-on? Aerin Lauder has officially released her Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia Parfum, and it couldn't be at a more fitting time than the holidays! Think of all the times you've been lei'd and you could hardly walk in a straight line because everyone wanted to get a whiff of your neck. Although the image doesn't do it justice, the packaging is beyond fantastic, with little shells inset a gold cap. The most exclusive thing about it, is that the only shop carrying this gem of a scent is good old Bergdorf Goodman. Last time I checked, they just didn't have one of those on every block. You'll be the only one rockin this scent this Christmas!

All Bejeweled Out..

This has nothing to do with beauty products, I know. But have you ever been dying to find a piece of jewelry that resembles something you've seen on your favorite celebrity? Well, I'm in the middle of hunting down a necklace that I spotted on Heidi Klum the other day on tv. During my search, I stumbled upon a goldmine of a site. Emitations is a jewelry site that offers all of your favorite looks for a HUGE fraction of the price. You don't have to drop a huge wad of cash just to get the look that you might need to finish off your look. We've all done it, right?--done the last minute Forever21 run, looking for some costume jewelry that would make that top look just so. Why not gloss over the specific celebrity looks that you love, and choose some from Emitations' selection? Check it out now, and you can add your own holiday wish list!
