Good to be New

So today I got notice from my bestie--up-and-coming stylist Ms. Ashley North--that she would be working on set as a stylist's assistant with Meagan Good for a shoot for a new magazine called Jewel! So you know I'm just dying to hear the details--of which I've received a few already--but in the meantime I had to take a look at what this magazine was all about. Although there's a ton of info online, you can also pick this one up at your local Barnes & Noble. Of course there was one place I was headed to first, and that was the beauty section. I was impressed with the fact that they were recognizing Iman's work as a book worth reading, and that Tarte cosmetics was mentioned as a well spent paycheck. Although the magazine is catered to young black women, it is definitely worth perusing if you're not--there's great advice, recommended authors, and fun write-ups! Oh, and of course keep your eyes glued for Ms. Good's upcoming spread--all of that great styling was thanks to Maya Foxx-Davis!

ANTM - Correction, Australia.

Australia's Next Top Model will be showing on a tv screen near you, this Monday March 5th. I'm looking forward to this, because I get so sick and tired of ANTM. Maybe Aussie will give America a run for their money--but by the looks of the girls featured on the VH1 site, they are looking a little old. One girl even has crow's feet! (Hope that's a judge). I'm hard-pressed to choose a candidate that I want to win from the pictures alone. On the American side of things, after having watched the first episode yesterday I am going to be rooting for our hometown-girl Cassandra. However, I must admit that I like Natasha as well--although she is a bit short. We'll see how things pan out.

Want another good reason to watch the Aussie version? The host, Erika Heynatz is an Australian model born in PNG (that's Papua New Guinea for all of you non-Pacific people). Sort of a fun fact.
